Nala : Ophelia

Apart from being the love interest of the main protagonist, Ophelia and Nala both face a major internal struggle. Ophelia must deal with the attacks of her father and the warnings of her brother. She fights to deal with being her own person or being a puppet of her father’s wishes (although it isn’t much of a fight). Nala (although unseen) struggles with the decision to leave Pride Rock in order to search for help, she abandons her duty to find Simba. The major difference between the two is that Nala has great inner strength, she is a strong support for Simba while Ophelia is one of the reasons that Hamlet chooses to be deceitful. Nala has the power to choose for herself, go against the reasons of her betters in times where Ophelia would just sit in a corner and cry.
